I lived the first 38 years of my life in South Africa and then moved with my family to the UK in 1986 to avoid the escalating political tensions.
I started painting about 10 years ago and am mainly self-taught. About 4 years ago people started purchasing my art and I have now sold over 100 pieces worldwide. I retired from a wonderful (43 years) career as a teacher in 2012 and never dreamed that I would have such a fulfilling second career. I love what I do. Every day is filled with new joy. Early this year, I was doing a commission of a family with their pet, when I suddenly realised how much I loved doing the dog itself. So I started painting my unique vibrant pet portraits and now get commissions for cats, dogs and even horses done in my whimsical style. My beloved dog, Snuffles, a 13 year old shih tzu, is my muse and my studio dog. She is with me all the time and loves to try out the paint herself. This is such fun, and when the fun stops, so will I. Commission me to do your very own pet/ immortalised forever.
